Some of the brightest stars from 2020 release earnings during a busy upcoming week for earnings releases. These stocks that experienced a stellar 2020 and carried the broader market to all-time highs are priced to perfection. Investors will demand perfection and look for signs that earnings growth will continue at a strong pace.
Additionally, the January FOMC meeting and Chairman Powell’s follow-up press conference will be widely watched on Wednesday. The FOMC has made it clear that they intend to keep interest rates near zero. However, the likelihood for additional fiscal stimulus is growing which could stoke inflation and pressure the FOMC into action. The FOMC is sure to be cautious in what they say and write in response to a potential uptick in inflation, so they do not ignite a taper tantrum like 2013.
