NEW YORK, NY (October 12, 2017) --
WealthManagement.com, the leading digital resource for wealth advisors, announced the winners for its 2017 Industry Awards—the only awards program to honor outstanding achievements by companies and organizations that support financial advisor success. Now in its third year, the Industry Awards were presented at a black-tie ceremony at The Plaza hotel in New York City on October 11, 2017. View list of winners
Fifty-four awards were given out to 43 companies from among this year’s 127 finalists. Nominations were submitted in the following categories: 401(k) retirement plan support services; asset mangers; broker/dealers; compliance law firms; custodians; disruptors; family offices; hedge funds/private equity; insurance; investment banks/lenders/succession planning consultants; non-custodial RIA support platforms; succession/ownership transition services (non-custodian B/Ds); TAMPs; technology providers; and trusts.
Envestnet was the big winner of the night, receiving four awards for various initiatives. Charles Schwab and Morningstar each walked away with three awards, while eMoney Advisor, Pershing, TD Ameritrade and Wealth Access each came away with two. Among the other well-known names receiving awards were Fidelity Investments, J.P. Morgan, Raymond James, Voya Financial and Wells Fargo.
A panel of judges made up of top names in the industry determined the 2017 award winners. Winners were judged based on quantitative measures of their initiatives—such as scope, scale, adoption and feature set—along with qualitative measures such as innovation, creativity and new methods of delivery.
This year the awards program was expanded to include an Executive Forum held at The Plaza during the afternoon of the event. The program included keynote speakers, CEO panel discussions and breakout sessions covering wealth management technology, sales and distribution, the B/D landscape and marketing best practices. More than 200 business leaders and executives from across the industry attended the afternoon educational and networking event, which was hosted by WealthManagement.com managing director William O’Conor and editor-in-chief David Armstrong.
The WealthManagement.com Industry Award program is the only one of its kind to recognize excellence among vendors and suppliers serving the final advisor community. “These firms are recognized by our panel of judges as ones that see financial advisors as customers, and offer them first-rate products and services,” said David Armstrong. “These companies help advisors build better practices by giving them the tools they need – be it professional services, technology platforms or simply new ideas around investment management, or running a business. These companies deserve to be recognized for doing noble work, as these initiatives help advisors provide a more prosperous future for countless clients, large and small.”
A record number of nominations were submitted this year—nearly 500 entries were received from more than 300 companies. By recognizing the outstanding achievements of this year’s winners, the WealthManagement.com Industry Awards inspire innovation and leadership among industry participants, creating an environment that will enable the industry to better support advisors in their roles as leaders to their clients and communities.
“The record number of firms and nominations submitted in 2017 demonstrates the vitality and importance of the advisory industry,” said William O’Conor. “Our goal is to recognize this ecosystem of companies, many with very different offerings, that together empower financial advisors to make better decisions for their practices, and for their clients. Each of these firms can learn from what the others are doing. Bringing these companies together for the awards event helps facilitate that dialogue in a way that will benefit the industry overall, but most importantly financial advisors and their clients.”
A portion of the proceeds from the WealthManagement.com 2017 Industry Awards event will be donated to Foundation for Financial Planning, an organization devoted to providing pro bono financial planning to the underserved primarily by providing grants to connect those in need with those willing to provide financial planning.
